The virtual machine (VM) is the program you use to run Squeak images. It's the first thing you need to download to get started with Squeak.

You'll need to get the right VM for your platform. Also, you need a VM that's appropriate for your image(s). VMs have a version, like 3.9. Any current VM should run any mainstream squeak image, so just get the latest available. However some specialised images require a VM with special features or plugins.
